Base Planner Diagonal Adjustment

Greetings Captains,

We wanted to get some feedback on adjustment for the Base Planner. Currently, players are unable to place land tiles diagonally from another land tile, regardless if it creates a narrow channel or not. The proposed change would allow players to place land tiles in a diagonal chain as long as it does not create a narrow channel (the Invalid base would be possible under the proposed change). Let us know what you think.

    Okay so to clarify ... the bottom pic is proposed to become a valid design?

    Does that include the entrance where you have two land tiles that are only one land tile apart?

    The entrance would still need to be 2 tiles. I will make an adjustment to the picture to show that. Thanks for the catch.

    Souns good...this would boost defenses enough to make it easier to defend yourself again

    Honestly I don't see a problem with the bottom base, the top one is just a laughable "base of the week" farm. Well except there should be two water tiles at the opening on the bottom layout.

    I like the idea. It would give us more land to work with, from being able to take it out of the corners of existing designs, without actually giving us more land.

    I think this is a great idea, would allow much better use of certain land tiles and give you more space to use.

    Are you kidding me? This would free up 9 tiles in my current base design. Horrible idea. I would GLADLY give you 9 of the tiles I have right now for a 2nd shipyard. Seriously KIX.....bad idea and not well thought out.

    yes install update now please and dont tell anyone lol (but us forumers). this would make things SOOOOOOOOO much nicer for base designs but u will still have your whiners. And this will give high level players something to do now

    It'll make base designing much easier and pretty much no excuses for not having 5 warehouses.

    I have to agree with the yes vote. Not for any extra land space, or aesthetic reasons, but just quality of life in terms of easy and natural feeling design. Bumping into the limits on diagonals is annoying, especially when it mostly ends up just amounting to deleting an entire row and re-laying them in a different order. Not as big a deal with the base designer now in general, I suppose.

    It will make it harder to snipe guard fleets as well, i like the idea.

    Yes please i can make good use of this straight away :D :D As after reading this thread i designed a base that will make use of this and its saved ready to be loaded as soon as it's available. :)

    It sounds like it would free up those double land diagonal blocks, so we would basically be getting more land.... I'm for it.

    Would be wonderful and eliminate some of the issues I have with designs running in to the borders.
    ([Damage] * (1 + [Damage Bonus])) / ([Reload] / (1 + [Reload bonus]) + 0.1 * ([Salvo] - 1)) = [DPS]
    Not factoring in splash or spread.
    (3200 * (1 + 0)) / (4 / (1 + 0) + 0.1 * (6 - 1)) = 711
    (3200 * (1 + -0.65)) / (4 / (1 + 2) + 0.1 * (6 - 1)) = 611

    i think if you are freeing up more tiles to use, you might need to give us more space to use them in as my base is currently on the boundries in every corner, is this going to happen? cause if not theres not really much point having the extra tiles
