Note, Levels 40-44 can still attack/be attacked by Levels 35-39 due to the +/- 5 rule still in effect for those lower Levels.

Then you should allow people to move every hour. You should not have to sit in a sector for 5 days waiting to leave if there are no targets in the new one you jump to.

Ask around in the War Room for sectors that would be good for you to move to before you actually move.

There was nothing wrong with existing system so this change is for no good reason.

I'm pretty sure that players in the 23 - 28 level range would disagree with you.

I just read the original post for the 3rd time and I still dont get it ( and I am fairly inteligent person). Sure I will play along. I will be level 48 by this new rule and if I did understand correctly: lvl 40 will be able to attack me but I wont be able to attack them, and then the level 10 is something and I had apple pie for dinner.

I dont understand why are you complicating this so much that you are gonna come up with a formula to calculate gravity of a black hole. You made this mash instead of reducing the gap from +/-5 to +/-3, open up so that you can travel to more sectors and be done with it. +/-3 levels makes so much more sense and you will have less pissed off people and people quiting playing. You seriously think that people will travel for an hour to get to a target, battle for 5 minutes, turn around travel an hour to go back home.

Please stop complicating things when you can fix this with so much less hassle. +/-3 instead of this. Simple.

much better, i can live with this change.....now if only we could have an increase in map speeds across the board so it doesnt take us 1 hour to get to those targets 2 sectors away :)

I have a very simple solution to address all the concerns regarding travel times with the +/- 2 sector change. If for eg. u are in sector 121 and want to attack in sector 123 then just leap over 122 (no travel time if u are simply travelling thru a sector to reach the next one). All available targets are still the same max travel time that they are now. Also, there should be an extra slot in our fleets for the arbiter only. Using this hull in a base hitting fleet basically reduces your attack power by 20% which makes base hitting become almost as nonexistent as FvF has become. Why hit a base and incur 10 hrs plus repair time when u know your chances of success are nonexistent? The only solution to this would be to significantly reduce repair times just as build times need to be reduced. Every dock upgrade should decrease repair time by 5% with a max of 50% at dock lvl 10. A drydock for refitting should also be added. Kixeye should remember that the more things coiners can coin on then the more they will coin :)

    2 more questions:

    1) can we expect different lvl salvages to appear containing newer ships or different combinations of ships

    2) how soon can we expect this to be implemented

    1) It's certainly possible.

    2) Don't know yet. Please read the forum rules.

And what abt travel times, two sectors it's too much time travel, only if you hadd somekind of "warp velocity" :P.

    LFMAO.

yeah. i remember those days. i've always talked about the major game flaw (lvl 32 hitting 27s).

i like the new changes. didn't affect high players much. lvl 33 can now only hit 29+. which makes sense.

would love to see SWAG reply to all those talking about lvl 30 (new 40) players and whether they can or cannot hit lvl 28 (new 37). and wether there is such thing as +/- 5 with 40+ players. i read it over and over. and it seems there is no +/- 5 for 40+ players. but so many people keep posting about it.

    clarify it for them please.

For christ's sake Swag we have all been lvl 23 and lvl 29 and yes it's a hard life down there but we have all been there and all come through it and we are better for having done so. Please do NOT mess up the game I am not threatening you i am telling you the facts implement this and your coiners WILL leave and believe me they WILL NOT LOOK BACK

I'm a lvl 27 and have never been farmed. I read the forums and learned how to build a proper base and shazzam...i don't get farmed by anyone, even lvl 32's. Amazing what can be accomplished when u apply just the tiniest bit of intelligence to this game. just thought you should know that not all lvl 23-28 are the whiners that you are catering to.

Well, this is certainly much better! Instead of a bandaid the level disparity problem gets a field splint. Should hold up for the most part.

I understand that Kixeye probably doesn't want to take a more technical approach to setting levels as a direct function of power as relates to player assets. Whatever. This system is better than what we have and therefore a step forward.

An open bracket after level 30 means that level 34s like me see effectively no change. Especially since anything under level 31 is likely a farm anyway.

One thing i would ask for the sake of constructive input: would you guys be open to establishing some sort of reward system for leveling up? Currently (and especially the lower levels) leveling up just means you can get your hat fed to you by an entirely higher class of player. (congratulations on hitting lvl30! says the 35...coords pls?).

Some games give players little incentives at level milestones (to be fair BP does do this to a limited degree by giving higher level players a larger looking base at certain level milestones which is a "prestige" type reward).

It can be as modest as you like, or as significant as you like, or even random. Just something to make a player salivate a little when he's about to ding over to a new level.

something like every 10 levels you get:
    -free res
    -a couple measly gold
-a modestly equipped level appropriate forsaken hull
    -an officer
-a picture of swag giving you a thumbs up

[so..since i am about to level up to what is now a 30..i will be attackable by players up to 10 levels above me and will only be able to attack 5 levels below me...this blows chunks..also..attacking 2 sectors away is all well and good but we are taliking 20-25 min sailing times here..how about some increased map speeds to offset this?...I like the ability to attack more sectors in general..but the lack of restriction on hittable levels for 40 and above is inherently unfair to those just acheiving those levels

I'm sure someone has already probably posted something similar. The point of going through the growing pains of 25-29 is to prepare you for when you hit that magic 30/31 to be able to build a somewhat decent design and learn how hit back. We all have gone through it, changing it will just throw the little guys once they level up to a group that have been fighting back and forth, and have some skill. When I was a small fry, I found people who could help teach me how to play and protect me when I was getting creamed. Before the attack button was taken away you could rest assured that most likely you had someone waiting for your attacker outside your base. I'm a level 32, I rarely meander into the less than 30 range unless there is a smart mouth. I'm not sure how many people would agree that a majority of the time if you are in the small fry range you are getting hit because you are fighting another group or mouthing off in comms. Just my opinion. I would be much appreciative if kixeye would fix the errors in the game first before trying to implement a new feature like this. Also looking forward to alliance wars if that ever makes it to us. :/

Read the original post again. It appears not to be as you are describing it.
please quote that. i don't see a -5 rule anywhere

If you bot learn to read and look at the first post

    Updated Attack Ranges
Along with the new distance rules described above, we're updating the attack range rules to further increase the number of valid targets, especially for high level players. The +/- 5 Level range is remaining, but would no longer apply to players level 40 and above (currently level 29).

Attack Range Summary (note all Levels are the new Levels):
    • Attack range remains at +/- 5 Levels up to Level 39.
    • Players Level 40 and above can be attacked by any player Level 40 and above.
    • Note, Levels 40-44 can still attack/be attacked by Levels 35-39 due to the +/- 5 rule still in effect for those lower Levels.
    • FYI, Current Level 30 will be Level 40 in the new system

Look at the 2 bits in red where swag says 40+ is a free for all but lvl's 40-44 can still attack/be attacked by Levels 35-39

for the +- 2 sector, we absolutely need More speed on the map and indication that the base is dead ( under repair after bubble)

Well, compared to the first version it's a step in the right direction. However, I for one sure won't be traveling over an hour round trip, much less 2 hours, to hit a base. I'm not interested in refiting my fleets to add some map speed (and while at it, even if I wanted to refit them my shipyard is already booked for the next 2 years...) and if I put an arbiter with module for map speed, I can't have one with the new base attack module unless I put 2 arbiters, which I won't do.

P.S. it's quite disturbing to see how many people fail at either reading or simple maths... or both. To me the OP is pretty clear and easy to understand, and english isn't even my first language...

much better than part 1 however i will say it dont change much for the plus 29 players since well there isnt many 36's so all the 30+ peeps would attack each other anyways .. and -/+ 2 sectors ... nice but hitting a sector 2 away is gonna be one helluva sail lol.

My problem with this is the current speed of out fleets it already takes me 20 min to get to a decent base to hit so now i can go 2 sectors over so whats that 1.5 hours thats going to be a real drag fellas :(

I agree about the trave time im sure they would do somethin to figure out how to get there faster, well i sure hope they do. it will suck travelin an hr away just to hit a base.

My only question would be, are you going to increase map speeds of ships? The idea that I can go +/- 2 sectors is awesome, just the time to get that far can be a bit ridiculous with the fleets required to kill a good base.

    so, i am a lvl 33. i can only hit 30+
but a lvl 28 on the old system can rim me. sorry. but that's wrong.

this should be improved to: you can only hit those who can hit you.
why dont people understand what they read. Simple enough Read the following...

Attack range remains at +/- 5 Levels up to Level 39. [*]Players Level 40 and above can be attacked by any player Level 40 and above.[*]Note, Levels 40-44 can still attack/be attacked by Levels 35-39 due to the +/- 5 rule still in effect for those lower Levels.[*]FYI, Current Level 30 will be Level 40 in the new system

if you notice it says levels 40-44 can still ATTACK (then a slash which means or) be attacked by 35-39

so if they can attack you you can attack them back. please read the post and understand it .

Other than that it is an interesting idea not sure how well it will work in practice but willing to give it a try and see

Well kixeye anyway you look at it ... going through with this change will still be effectively removing any player lvl 35 or higher from the game... The claim that increasing the distance a player can travel will fix the lack of attackable bases is silly... the way it reads to me is this ... Instead of having you attack bases and enjoy the game we have created for you the player we want you to set sail in the morning so that by the time you get home from work your fleet will be at the target you intend to hit. Thank you for enjoying our game for 10 minutes a day. I'm an in sector attacker and proud to be one i prefer to play this game not spend my time watching my pixels move across a rendering of the ocean.... In my opinion you have fixed nothing and improved nothing all you have done is added more wait time to an already tedious waiting game.

cant we just make it like 3 or 4 either way ...cut down on built time .. fix the glithes ...sounds like kixeye is catering to the coiners only ..i dont coin builds on ship. im not rich i do use coins for repairs when i have a few extra bucks .. but i wont spend another dime on this game ..and i more then likely wont play it any more either .. im a lvl 34 and i cant get in to 90% of lvl 32 bases let alone 33/34/35/36 lvl base ..reason it takes so long to build anything .....to many raids .
